Wedding Planner and Checklist

6 to 12 months before:
  1. Announce engagement
  2. Decide the type of wedding
  3. Decide time of day
  4. Decide location
  5. Set a date
  6. Set a budget
  7. Select bridal party
  8. Plan color scheme
  9. Select and order bridal gown
  10. Select and order headpiece
  11. Select and order shoes
  12. Select and order attendants' gowns
  13. Start honeymoon planning
  14. Go to the bridal gift registry
  15. Start compiling the guest list
  16. Select caterer
  17. Select entertainment (M&M)
  18. Select florist
  19. Select photographer
  20. Start planning reception
  21. Reserve location for reception
  22. Plan premarital counseling
  23. Select and order wedding rings

3 months before the wedding:
  1. Complete guest list
  2. Make doctor's appointments
  3. Have mothers select attire
  4. Select and order invitations
  5. Order personal stationary
  6. Start compiling trousseau
  7. Finalize reception arrangements
  8. (rent items now)
  9. Make reservations for honeymoon
  10. Confirm dress delivery
  11. Confirm time and date with florist, caterer, photographer, church, M&M Entertainment
  12. Hire wedding party limousine
  13. Order cake
  14. Order attire for groomsmen
  15. Schedule bridesmaids' fittings
2 months before the wedding:
  1. Mail all invitations
  2. Arrange to get marriage license
  3. Finalize honeymoon plans
 
1 month before the wedding:
  1. Schedule bridal portrait
  2. Begin to record gifts received
  3. Send thank you notes for gifts
  4. Plan rehearsal and dinner
  5. Purchase gifts for bridal party
  6. Purchase gift for fiancée'
  7. Schedule final fittings
  8. Schedule bridesmaids' party
  9. Decide placement of guest book
  10. Obtain pillow for ring bearer
  11. Obtain any other wedding props
  12. Get marriage license
2 weeks before the wedding:
  1. Mail announcement to newspaper
  2. Finalize wedding day limo
  3. Arrange to change name on license, Social Security card, and any other forms of Identification you may use
1 week before the wedding:
  1. Start packing for honeymoon
  2. Give caterer final head count
  3. Double check all details
  4. Plan seating arrangements
  5. Style your hair with headpiece
  6. Practice makeup
  7. Arrange for last fitting
  8. Secure the rings
  9. Confirm marriage license
  10. Perform rehearsal & dinner
  11. Arrange for music to start....a half hour prior to ceremony
  12. Arrange to have the mother....of groom seated 5 min ahead
  13. Arrange to have the mother....of bride seated at start
  14. Arrange for the aisle runner....to be rolled out by the ushers.... just before processional
Your wedding day:
  1. Try to relax and pamper yourself
  2. Take a long bath, etc.
  3. Eat at least one small meal
  4. Have your hair and make-up done
  5. Start dressing 1 or 2 hours ahead
  6. HAVE FUN!
